Woman Asks Reddit If She Is Wrong For Refusing To Adopt Her Late Sister’s Dog

Not everyone is ready for a pet.

Don’t get me wrong, animals are adorable creatures and they definitely deserve a loving home. However, not everyone is up for the task of taking care of a dog. Even if you may adore dogs, that doesn’t mean that you will have an easy time with a dog at your home. Taking in a dog requires a lot of patience and care so you should always think hard before you jump into this decision. So it is never okay to force someone into that decision and call them selfish if they refuse.

But that is exactly what this particular family did when their daughter passed away. You see, she had a lovely dog and when she passed away due to some complications, they were left with the doggo. Now, they obviously kept the doggo for a few days but it was clear that there trying to get rid of that ‘burden’ when they tried forcing the doggo on their other daughter. As you can probably guess it didn’t go well and the whole discussion devolved into an insulting argument.

We start off this story with the news of how her sister passed away.

And she left her parents with a dog which is understandable.

However, her parents claim that they are allergic and can’t take care of the doggo.

They kept asserting that it was a very special dog and started insulting her.

She snapped back and as you can imagine, it didn’t go well.

I am just sad to see that after such an incident, they are trying to alienate the other daughter. Everyone needs support in these kinds of times but they clearly don’t care and just don’t want the burden of the dog. And at the end of the day, it is not the poster’s responsibility to take care of the dog. If she had wanted it then it would be fine but she didn’t so they are only making her feel bad about the whole situation.

So when she asked Reddit for advice, they were beside her.

Most commenters called out the parents for their weird behavior.

It is after all their choice.

And it is not right to force their daughter into this.

I can only hope that the dog is happy and healthy.

If the family doesn’t want to take care of the doggo, it is better to give him away.

Whatever her reason may be, it is quite valid.

They do seem very petty to me as well.

They don’t like the best parents out there.

Putting him up for adoption might be a good idea.

It is their responsibility, not hers.

They just feel guilty putting it up for adoption.

So that is why they are trying to give him to her.

They clearly don’t understand how to take care of a dog.

She shouldn’t back down from this at all.

They need to stop guilt-tripping her as well.

It can be a very hard time when you lose a loved one.

They are a lot of deeper issues that need to be addressed.

It really is as simple as that.

It didn’t sound temporary to me at all.

They clearly don’t care about the relationship with their daughter.

However, there were a few comments coming to this with a different view on things.

He is an adorable kitty but sadly he is no longer with us.

Floyd was the sweetest angel in the world. The most fearless baby. All he wanted in life was to climb trees, cuddle with us, sleep , eat and play. He was killed 3 days ago by a snake in my backyard. I still cant believe it. His sister, Zeppelin, has been crying none stop, finding him. Searching for him. Calling him. I don’t know how to tell her that’s he’s not coming back.
