Guard dogs aren’t just tough guys. They make awesome family pets too! They’re super loyal to their human “pack,” smart enough to be trained for real danger, and they’ve got hearts as big as can be. Sure, the best guard dogs know how to defend their turf, but they’re not always meanies. Take Reddit user TAequinecenter, for instance. They’ve got four guard dogs, Middle Asian and Caucasian Shepherds, who patrol the place at night or when the family’s away.
OP’s family runs a horse center on their property. It’s not huge, mostly for private clients, with 18 fancy horses. The house, yard, fields, and arena are all fenced in. But here’s the kicker: The neighbor’s kids kept sneaking in to see the horses, despite being warned. One day, they found themselves face-to-face with the guard dogs, and things got messy. The police had to step in!

2. OP and her family live in a house that is slightly far away from a proper neighborhood. They also run a horse center together.
3. WIth the husband going to work in the city and their daughter going to school, OP usually takes care of the horse center on her own in their absence.
4. There’s also staff that looks after the stables and the horses that people leave for care.
5. Some of OP’s daughter’s friends also have horses which they have living at the same stables. So they often come to visit and play around.
6. The family also has four guard dogs guarding the dog center and the horses in it.
7. The dogs say nothing to the family members and the daughter’s friends because they are well-trained and know who is who.
8. Coming to the main story. OP has a neighbor whose kids are known for trying to climb the fence to look at the horses. One time they managed it and the guard dogs quickly cornered them
Guard dogs are very good at the task they are assigned; guarding. They will do whatever in their power to make sure whatever they are tasked to protect remains protected. Even if it means resorting to attack. Those kids were lucky OP’s guard dogs didn’t bite or anything. But no one gets lucky every time. If such an incident ever took place again, the dogs may shred the kids to pieces without flinching.
The mother needs to realize this and make sure to keep her kids away from the horse center.

9. Their mother called the police and that is how OP got to know what had happened. The police cleared OP and she ordered her guard dogs away so the kids could leave.
10. The mother of the kids said the situation traumatized her kids and called OP an AH for it. The matter was taken to the courts of the AITA community.
