Woman Never Gets Invited To Husband’s Family Dinners, Decided To Crash One, Asks If She’s Wrong

Today we are with an interesting story from “Am I The A***ole?” subreddit, as we all know this subreddit is literally awesome and viral. People can post here and talk openly about age-old discussions about what is and isn’t normal when it comes to in-law relationships. So a 30-year-old woman who goes online by the name of  RestaurantCrasher wanted to know if she acted like A hole, in response to her husband not calling her to his family dinner, booked a table at the same place, and presented herself to the whole bunch when passing by on her way to the toilet. I mean don’t you think husbands and wives ought to do everything together and for god’s sake it’s just a family dinner. Keep on scrolling to know what happened and let us know what do you think about her actions. Make sure you watch it till the end otherwise you are not going to get it.

Well I think whatever the relationship you have with your in-laws it can have lasting effects on your own romantic life. Orbuch discovered that a man reported having a close relationship with his wife’s parents the couple’s risk of divorce is decreased by 20% while women having a close relationship with their husband’s parents saw a risk of divorce rise by 20%. If you think about it deeply the numbers make sense. Men are like they look forward to the idea of gaining a new family when they get married. For them, it’s a chance to have mom and dag without many of the entanglements that men face with their own parents. They can watch a ballgame or enjoy a beer watching television without getting judged at all.

Being a daughter-in-law can be way trickier. On one hand, a woman may be more likely to form a bond with a man’s parents when she wants to change something about him or get him to agree with her about an aspect of child-rearing. (Essentially, she’s trying to get his parents on her ‘side.’) This closeness can result in a unified front against the husband and, as you might imagine, can infuriate him. Surprisingly it is highly accurate. Moreover, going even further, a tight relationship with the in-laws can backfire on a lot of women as well.

Orbuch highlighted that in her long-term study, she found in-law ties to be very stressful for women in general.

“If women are close to their in-laws, especially early in marriage, this interferes with or prevents them from forming a unified and strong bond with their husband,” she said. “Also, since women are constantly analyzing and trying to improve their relationships, they often take what their in-laws say as personal and can’t set … clear boundaries.”

So we hope if RestaurantCrasher and her husband work this out, the conflict might even tighter their connections.
