Woman Refuses To Get Rid Of Her Husband’s Service Dog Because Her Niece Doesn’t Feel Comfortable

Not everyone adores dogs.

And that is perfectly fine as long as you don’t force your dislike on others. What does forcing a dislike on someone even mean? Well, if you don’t like dogs, that doesn’t mean that you can stop your family to get one as well. If this was an allergy or a phobia, I would definitely understand but that is not the case here. And since we are talking about a service dog in this particular story, it is even more surprising.

I get that everyone feels comfortable around dogs but when people have service dogs, they usually have them for a reason whether it is mental or physical. So asking them to get rid of the dog even for a temporary moment is incredibly disrespectful. If you simply do not like dogs, just don’t interact with the dog and stay far away from the doggo. Even though I adore dogs, I am a bit scared of them but even I wouldn’t force my family member to do this.

This is going to be a confusing story so let us get ready for that.

Why does she feel uncomfortable? Is it because she isn’t used to the dog?

However, she wasn’t going to just let her Niece walk all over her so she put her foot down.

Her brother however did not appreciate this at all.

As you can probably guess, this caused some family drama.

Arguments ensued and no one was ready to back down.

The guy however wants to keep the peace so he is willing to move out for a while.

He sounds like a nice guy but sometimes you need to stand up for yourself.

I am just glad he has her to back him up.

And that is how she ended up on Reddit asking for advice.

If there was a valid reason behind her dislike for dogs then I would sort of understand it but this just seems weird. I am not saying that people can’t dislike dogs but that doesn’t mean you have any right to stop people around you from keeping dogs as well. The kid just seems very entitled and her parents aren’t helping either. They shouldn’t be taking their daughter’s side and should put a foot down. I am glad that she stood her ground and protected her husband.

People were unsurprisingly on her side as well.

They can simply move out if they are so uncomfortable.

We also get a bit more information as to why she doesn’t want her husband to stay with his Father.

Their family clearly has a lot of issues.

They do not have any right to ask this either.

It is not as if OP and her husband are staying at their house.

It is actually the other way around so they should be thankful.

If they don’t like the dog, they can simply leave.

This comment put everything perfectly.

She really needs to have an open discussion with them.

They sound incredibly entitled to me judging from the post.

I bet they can’t move out because nobody else wants to house them.

She is helping so he should be thankful and appreciate her.

It is the parent’s fault for raising an entitled teen in the first place.

And yet we see so many choosing beggars.

We all need adorable animal tax after that harrowing story.

Who knew foxes could be so adorable? I am just sad that foxes can’t be kept as pets.

What are your thoughts on this story? Why do you think the niece is feeling uncomfortable around the dog? Is there something that we don’t know or is she just trying to exert control?
