It’s a man’s world.
I guess it really is. No matter how much people want to deny it, gender discrimination exists and it is very real. Just because you have not been through it, does not mean that it does not happen. The world can be a difficult place for women. They have to go through a lot of discrimination and inequality in every stage of life. I am not saying that men have it easy. Men have their own hurdles to cross but women aren’t able to do things that men easily can without going through some serious obstacles. I am sure if you are a woman you have faced some sort of discrimination at least once in your life. I know I have. At home, my brother was always the favorite child. In school, my teachers would always pick boys to lead the class even though the girls could do it perfectly fine. Do not even get me started about sexism in the workplace, my rant would never end.
It seems like I am not the only person who thinks the world was not built for women. Karley Hou, a sophomore at Harvard, wrote a Twitter thread that stated “The world is not built for women” followed by a long list of reasons why. It makes for quite an amazing read. Some people have never even thought of these reasons. Scroll down below and read the whole Twitter thread:

This is Karly Hou, the Harvard student who wrote the Twitter thread about women.
She started off by giving a very powerful statement, “Our world was not built for women.”
And one by one, she started to list down the reasons why.
She explained why cars were designed for men only.
Even personal protective equipment used in the lab is not meant for women.
Smartphone companies target the needs of men as well.
Military equipment was not made for the use of women either.
Even the standard drug dosage is decided according to the details of male bodies.
Female bathrooms need more space due to different needs.
A lot of women are stripped of their medical needs because their pain reports are discounted as “emotional” or “hysterical”.
AI is trained on male-biased data.
Glass floors or grated floors are not meant for women.
CPR training is always done on male torsos.
Artificial hearts are too large to properly fit women.
The standard office temperature is unfit for women.
Females are disregarded most of the time because they are “too complicated.”
This is why we need diversity.
I would completely agree with Karly’s statement. Her reasoning is very logical and if you actually observe the reasons she listed down, you would understand that most of them are true. We will have to progress a lot to make the world a more fair place for women. Hopefully, step by step, we will reach there.
Other people on Twitter added their own observations to Karly’s thread.
