Names can have a lot of significance.
I’m sure we all understand how important names can be. Our names can contain our entire identity. They also have a significant impact on how some people perceive us. This may appear strange, but it is true. I am well aware that many people place a high value on whether a name is feminine or masculine enough for their baby, but it isn’t as important as it appears, and gender-neutral names are available. However, just because you want to name your child after your favourite game because it means something to you doesn’t mean you should do so mindlessly. They are, after all, going to grow up one day and kids can be quite cruel.
Nobody wants to see their child being bullied. While we have seen famous people give their children unusual names, they have the luxury of doing so because not many people will mess with the child of someone famous or powerful. That is why, when it comes to naming your child, it is critical for parents to seek outside advice. I’m not saying you should let other people name your child, but it never hurts to get a second opinion. That is precisely what this mother desired. However, when she received that outside perspective, she was dissatisfied with the answer.

This woman doesn’t hold back any punches if you look at the title.
Her sister clearly just wanted an opinion on the name.
However, OP was quick to respond and she didn’t do so in a kind manner.
I know a lot of people will support the OP, and I sort of agree with her. However, she could have phrased it a little more gently. She could have started by discussing the history of the name and how it is traditionally a feminine name. However, she went about it in the worst way possible. Personally, I think Kalypso is a lovely name, but I’ve never seen a guy with that name. So I’m going to say that both of the people in this story are flawed in some way.
However, most people were on her side nonetheless.
While there were a few who said she didn’t handle it in the best way.
To be fair, hormone fluctuations can mess you up.
I didn’t know that it was a popular dog name.
This person explained some meaning behind the name.
Kids might not understand the history but it is clear that it is a traditionally feminine name.
She has to know that it is a Greek name, right?
She apparently does know but still wanted to name her son that?
I still think OP could have been a bit nicer.
I can understand where OP’s sister is coming from.
She might have wanted her sister to act like a kind human being.
