Dog Owner Posts The Conversation Online When Neighbor Confronts Him About His Barking Dog

polite conversation

People are often overly protective of their pets.

As a cat owner, I completely understand the overprotective nature that comes with having a pet. After a while, you begin to think of them as family and may even treat them better than other humans. After all, pets will never betray you and will always be there for you. However, there are times when you must do things even if they make your pet unhappy. For example, if you don’t want your pet to have problems in the future, you sometimes need to neuter them. Or how you must force them to wear a collar if they continue to scratch or lick their wound.

It’s all part of caring for another being, even if that being doesn’t fully comprehend why you’re doing it. The same is true for teaching your dog not to bark at inconvenient times. Now, I’m not saying that a shock collar is the best option because I don’t know enough about dogs to know if it’s considered torture or if it doesn’t hurt at all. Allowing your dog to stay outside all day and doing nothing about their constant barking is not the way to go. I’ve had similar issues with my neighbours in the past, and let me tell you, it’s difficult to sleep when a dog is barking loudly.

It is never fun trying to sleep when there is a dog barking outside.

We start with getting some background information about where they live.

And also some explanation of who the neighbour actually is.

Tired of not getting enough sleep, OP decided to message him.

Right from the start, the neighbour was rude.

Op tried to continue being polite but it wasn’t going anywhere.

He was being outright aggressive now so the conversation ended there.

The neighbour also posted the conversation on Facebook to paint himself as the victim.

To clear up everything, OP decided to comment on the post.

However, that didn’t lead him anywhere with everyone blaming him.

Accepting the criticism and finding a way to help the dog so he doesn’t bark all night would have been the best way to handle this. However, the neighbour was simply being aggressive and then manipulating the story so that he appeared to be the victim to others. According to the appearances, OP was initially polite and did not want to escalate the situation. So I’m not sure why the neighbour was so upset with him. While I understand that people’s opinions can be skewed depending on who tells the story, I’m surprised that so many people on Facebook sided with the other person after he was so rude.

People in the comments had great advice for him.

And apparently, this is not a new development either.

There is no question that the neighbour is in the wrong here.

OP also found another neighbour in the comments which was a surprise.

Calling the police might be the way to go in this situation.

What are your thoughts on the matter? Do you believe the OP should find a way to ignore the barking and sleep? Or do you believe the neighbour was being overly hostile? Have you ever been in a situation like this before? If so, please let us know in the comments section below, and don’t forget to share this story with your friends so they can share their thoughts as well.
