When your bank does not allow you to close your account, use the other way around.
Every bank has different policies. Every time you would go to them for transactions, closing of your account or something new, you would be surprised by a new policy. There is no point of paying extra money to bank accounts. At least, we are not up for it and a Reddit user has exactly the same in mind. When he approached the bank and asked them to close his account, they asked for a $5 fee but OP was not willing to pay. Scroll down to read what he did next.
