Overweight Woman Deformed Chairs She “Borrowed” From Neighbor Without Her Consent

Entitlement and acceptance. Our society is so close to the first one and so far away from the second one. And in today’s story, we have a person who fits into this criteria perfectly. We are talking about an overweight neighbor who thought it was okay to “borrow” u/throwChairs56‘s chairs without even taking her permission. Not just that, she also wanted to justify that those chairs deforming because of her being overweight wasn’t her fault and that the chairs deformed because they were bad quality.

All of this happened when OP lent her chairs to her neighbor Mark who then got approached by Barb, another neighbor, who lied to Mark by saying she had already talked to OP about taking the chairs directly from him. However, in reality, no such conversation had taken place between Barb and OP. So now you know how Barb perfectly fits that blend of being so close to entitlement and so far away from acceptance.

2. OP got some cheap folding chairs for her son’s birthday and decided to keep them if anyone in the neighborhood wanted to borrow them for any event.

3. OP once lent the chairs out to Mark, who further gave them to Barb after using them. Barb said she already had an approval from OP so he didn’t hesitate. In reality, no conversation had taken place between OP and Barb about this.

4. OP contacted Barb and demanded the chairs back. However, once they arrived, four of them were completely deformed.

5. Barb went on to complain the chairs were dangerous while OP said she never had any issues with the chairs for years. Barb even wanted to let the fact slide that she didn’t even ask OP to borrow the chairs and straight up lied to Mark to have them.

First, Barb lied to Mark that she had already talked with OP to borrow the chairs straight from him. Yes, Mark should have first confirmed with OP but this is neighborhood things not corporate-level lending/borrowing so he probably didn’t give it a second thought. Second, if Barb knew that her weight was going to result in the chair breaking/deforming, she should have stopped there and then. The fact that OP got back 4 chairs totally deformed just goes to show Barb and her family had no respect for OP, or they were just having a lot of fun sitting on chairs and breaking them.

As soon as the first chair broke, Barb should have informed OP about it. That is all. Proceeding to break three more just makes Barb a solid AH. Let’s see what happens next. Scroll down below to continue reading!

6. Barb couldn’t believe what had just happened when OP asked her to replace the chairs.

7. OP asked the internet if her stance was wrong or not. She simply argued Barb should have stopped once the first chair broke.

I am taking from this that had Mark done this, OP wouldn’t have reacted the same way because she knew Mark and his wife well compared to Barb and her husband. And most probably Mark would’ve informed OP at the earliest had any such thing happened.

Here’s what the internet had to say about this:

8. Barb broke someone else’s property. How does she expect to get out of this safe?

9. Why did they never call the chairs cheap before this incident? OP must not stop until she gets her money back.

10. Taking the chairs from Mark directly by lying to him, and Mark giving Barb the chairs without calling OP for confirmation makes them both major a$$holes in this story.

11. Breaking the chair and then proceeding to argue about its bad quality is beyond me. Just accept your fault.
