Boss Asks If He Should Fire His Most Efficient Employee, Gets Lectured For Even Thinking About It

Bad boss wanted to lay off his best asset.

People have become really weird these days. I mean, back in the days there used to be a sense of acknowledgment all around the world. If you are putting in a solid amount of effort and doing way more than everybody else on the same level playing field, you would get recognized for your hard work and efforts. A good workplace that has a genuine purpose to grow in and sustain its growth, in the long run, requires efficient employees. Employees who can give in way more than what they believe they are capable of. And when employees show such unimaginably efficient performance, they are rewarded with incentives like bonus salaries, paid vacations, etc. This helps motivate such employees to continue working at the same pace without dropping the quality. This is how a great organization operates, by putting employee satisfaction and customer facilitation right at the top of its priority list.

But in today’s story, there is a boss who does the exact opposite of what we have mentioned about an ideal boss should do. They ask the weirdest question one could possibly think of.

This boss asks the internet if they should fire their best employee ever.

The reason why this boss posted such an obnoxious question was this amazing employee would finish all his work pretty early as he would have everything organized and would proactively be on top of every problem in order for it to catch the source of the problem before even the main issue arises. This would result in him being left with a lot of free time which he would use to play video games. The boss complains that the employee should not use that time to play the games and instead help all the other employees and makes this fact the basis of his wanting to fire his employee.

It is extremely important to know the significance of an employee and the bosses in their organizations should be the first ones to recognize it. In plain vanilla English, without employees, there is no organization. So, there is a very high level of responsibility on the shoulders of the leaders to treat their employees right and with the respect they deserve.

The boss posted a question in the hope to get an answer and he got one. He may not like it, but he did get it.

The boss got told probably all his employees are efficient and some may probably be even more efficient than this one employee he is talking about. They all could complete their tasks as quick as this best employee as well but the reason why they don’t do it is because they know their boss will task them with more work and that too without any reward, instead of acknowledging the fact that they all worked very quickly and very well.

There’s more…

The respondent also mentioned that the free time this employee gets is his own free time, he earned it by doing his tasks quickly and effectively. It would be unfair to burden them with extra work or tasks. That employee is the owner of his time and can consume it in any way. That includes playing games.

Finally, they suggested the boss actually recognize the employee’s efficiency and reward them for finishing work early in order to witness such performance again and again. If he still plans to fire them then the organization won’t manage to survive for too long because the others will see good efforts are worthless and there is no employee value at the organization no matter how hard you work. End result? Self-destruction.

Pretty sure the boss will be reconsidering his decision.
