Boss Demands Employees To Provide A 3 Notice In Order To Leave For Other Jobs

It is a well-renowned fact that the whole job environment can be a real hassle and if you don’t have the right managers leading you, the stress levels will only rise high up to a point that you decide you can’t do any of this unfairness anymore and start looking for new opportunities. Now, it is not always that an employee leaves just because they’ve had a really bad time at the office, at times employees leave because they spot a better opportunity in the market. A job that probably pays well, is more appropriate to their skillset, and in overall terms puts the employee in a better place than before. I always encourage such moves but it is very important to be subtle with it, frequently switching jobs is not considered good. It hints that you haven’t been really able to settle in any organization and the problem is you, not the job.

Now as we all know, if you plan to leave a job you have to provide the management with a 2-week notice. But in today’s story, the manager decided to bend the rules and created a new notice period of their own.

The manager got really annoyed when he received 2-week notices from three different employees on the exact same day. He decided to email them back and his how it went.

The manager was quick to email the employees back on this matter. He, for some reason, made it a matter of selfishness. The opening paragraph of the email really does feel like he trying to emotionally blackmail them into taking their decisions back. The manager even went on to say that if the three employees leave, they would come across as team destroyers instead of team players to all the other coworkers who still work there. Furthermore, and this one really went over the top of my head, their manager felt the need to mention how he has to sacrifice spending time with his children in order to run the business and the employees have no regard for that.

The manager then magically decided to extend the notice period from 2 weeks to a whopping 3 months.

The manager really should his true colors there. He shared in the email that the notice period has now been extended to 3 months and the reason for that is they took a three-month training. The obnoxiousness doesn’t stop there. He even imposed overtime on the employees, ordered them to train other employees during those 3 months, and that their pay will also be reduced.

I feel like the manager totally made it a matter of their ego. As a great leader, you are supposed to motivate your employees and value their presence, so they never think of exploring any ‘better opportunities. This manager basically decided to skin their employees off for wanting to leave a workplace they are not happy working at. Three cheers to that logic, Mr. Manager.
