Manager Wants Employee To Stay An Hour Before And After The Office Hours, Employee Takes Manager To Director

If a manager ever wants you to stay after your office hours, make sure to get it documented.

Never work overtime without getting it documented. And if you are working overtime, make sure, you get paid for it. A Reddit user shared his story that his manager called a meeting at 4:15 pm on Friday. The meeting went for about 45 minutes and was still continued. OP told his manager that he has other plans and that we can continue the meeting on Monday. She told OP that employees should stay an hour after the working hours in case they need them for any work. OP told her that he has to go now and they would talk about it on Monday. There was a meeting on Monday and the director was also present there. OP brought up the time issue in the meeting and asked if she can get it documented. OP’s manager said that she will talk about it. She was mad at OP and called him to ask why he brought it in front of the director. Scroll down to read what happened next and why OP’s manager apologized to him.
