I had friends with a deep passion and admiration for animals. However, I would never, ever put my trust in them to care for any of the animals because, despite their compassion, they do not make better pet owners. The sibling of such a Redditor shares a similar upbringing experience as my buddies. OP noticed how much her sister and her kid adored her cat.
When they get to OP, they give it extra attention, but they wouldn’t know how to do it properly. They are so bad with the cat that OP has taken to misrepresenting to the kids about where the cat is while they are there. Considering her sister’s past with owning a pet, OP’s opinion is unlikely to change. She reportedly owned two dogs, both of which escaped due to negligence and a number of other factors that the OP declined to discuss.
OP knew there would be a problem when her sister learns that OP has to rehome her cat. Our dear pet owner will be moving soon and none of the apartments on her shortlist allows pets in their properties.
A friend of OP’s stepped up and will likely be the new owner of OP’s beloved cat. In a moment of weakness, OP shared this information to their mom who then told OP’s sister about the rehoming. OP did what had to be done, clearly, he can’t give the cat to the sister because OP knows what cat life would be like to be in those hands of kids who don’t know any respect for animals. They were gonna play so harshly with the cat OP did exactly what was right.
