The intensity of allergic responses varies. After plenty of time with them, you develop coping mechanisms. Even so, it doesn’t lessen how horrible you feel when they do. There will always be some sort of inconvenience, or in the worst event, a life-threatening emergency, whether they are minor or serious.
Due to this, allergies shouldn’t be taken lightly, and if they pose a major health concern, you should just let those around you understand. They ought to grasp when you’re trying to protect yourself.
In a r/AITA post, a friendship between OP and his long-time best friend might be falling apart because of a decision he made regarding his allergies. It started when his friend started dating someone years ago, which everyone was happy about. But with his friend’s girlfriend being an introvert and him adapting more to that, OP hardly ever spent time with his friend anymore. They then adopted a cat which they loved taking everywhere and devoting their time to it.
The OP is familiar with caring for animals because he and his girlfriend have their own dogs, which they spoil rotten, albeit admittedly not to the same degree as his friend’s. He didn’t voice any disapproval and continued to support their pleasure and happiness.
When OP and his girlfriend announced their decision to move, they threw a farewell party where his friend requested permission to bring their cat. Because of their severe allergies, OP would prefer not to spend the party in pain. So what are you waitingfor, folks? OP did nothing wrong here and as you can see from the users above OP is not an A-hole. His allergy was real and severe so they could have understood him better rather than having so much contradicts with him. And it’s better to pets alone at home when you are going somewhere where people are gonna be exposed to the alergies you better leave them alone at home.
