Comics About Life With Pets That Every Pet Owner Can Relate To

Life with pets is beautiful.

Pets can turn your life around for the better. Getting a pet is an experience you will never regret in your life. Pets find their way to our hearts and then they stay there forever. It might be a huge responsibility to take care of them but it is always worth it in the end. An animal’s unconditional love is unmatchable. No human can ever give you the kind of love your pet will give you. To your pet, you are their everything. You are their family, their best friend, and their caretaker. They depend entirely on you so they give you all the love they can muster. With a pet, you will find yourself in all kinds of emotional situations. However, every pet owner has seen these situations at least once in their life. So when one pet owner narrates their story, a lot of other fur baby parents can relate as well.

Artist Ademar Vieira shares stories about their life with their pets without saying a single word. They share these stories through comics. The comics are focused on a character named Sam and their dog Oscar, along with their cat Edgar. The artist says that the comics “tell stories about life, loaded with emotion, criticism, and some twists and turns.” Scroll down below to see the comics.

The characters Edgar and Oscar have been inspired by Ademar’s dogs Zelda and Garoto, and also their cat Gata-Fera. Their very first comic “The Choice” was based on a personal experience. “During the quarantine, I realized that every time I was sad or anxious or having bad thoughts, my dogs would bring me back to the present and show me how it’s possible to stay cheerful, focusing on small things like a game or a nap or the simple and sincere love of a dog. It moved me every time I thought about it because in their purity they were totally oblivious to the pandemic and focused on the simplest things in life. When I came up with the idea to create that comic, it took me a while to draw it because I thought it was not one of the best ideas I had.”

2. “This place is mine.”

But most importantly, you are mine.

Ademar believes that humans don’t own the planet. “We just share the planet with other species and I think the close contact with pets makes us realize that. I think that those who love animals have a greater ability to understand many other problems such as environmental ones.”

3. “Dog Home Office”

The artist does not live with their pets anymore. They moved out in 2021 and their then-wife stayed with the pets. “I miss them so much because now I’m in another country (Argentina) and I only get to see them once a year.” The artist says that their pets helped them see life from their point of view. “They are always living in the present moment, without worrying about the future and without holding onto grudges or things from the past. I think they have a lot to teach us.”
