Work can be exhausting…but that doesn’t entitle you to take all that stress out on your family.
The corporate sector is not easy to handle. You deal with so many issues on a daily basis. The issues begin with the task at hand which can get tricky and complex at times, resulting in the employee having to stay back extra hours to resolve all the errors and finally go home. And another issue is dealing with the management. The management wants to get the work done and we don’t live in an ideal world, so they will make sure to drain all their employees to squeeze every single dollar out of their efforts. And lastly, it’s the subordinates. As much as organizations promote teamwork, there will always exist internal competition among the employees for rewards and incentives, etc. And this could result in 3 to 4 employees teaming up against 1 employee to get them kicked out.
After having to deal with all these hurdles, when the employee return home, they feel nothing but extremely exhausted and stressed. A good person, say a father, would know their wife too had been working extremely hard at home all day long taking care of the house chores and the kids. And they would drink down all their stress and remove the exhaustion by sharing how the day went, with the family.
But some people just don’t get it and think they are the only ones doing all the hard work and are entitled to get mad at their family for all the stress caused to them at work. In today’s story, a father’s behavior is shared by their daughter on Reddit. She shares how every day when her father would return home from work, he would just go off on his mother complaining about how the carpet isn’t set properly, how the dinner isn’t, etc. A fight then ensues between the couple every night and the whole mood of the house goes dim.
The daughter finally decided enough was enough and decided to let her father know how he behaves when he returns home and how bad everyone feels about it.

1. Daughter confronter her father about how he behaves every day…Not easy.

2. OP’s father who works always complains about literally everything as soon as he returns home. This must hurt his wife as she works so hard every day to take care of the house and do all the chores.

3. The couple then enters a heated argument almost every other day and it ruins the mood of the whole house.

4. In order to let her father know how bad his behavior is, his daughter turned into him and acted like him in his presence in order for him to realize how it feels from the other person’s perspective.

5. Once the Dad realized OP was acting the way he does every day, he just got up and left without making any eye contact with anyone. He also refused to speak with OP.

6. The Dad got hurt and felt the act was invalidating.

I would 100% declare OP safe. She was NTA. In fact, his methodology used by her was fantastic. I think the whole act work. The fact that he stopped making eye contact when he realized what was happening means he was giving it a thought. I think OP should instead now force her way into a conversation with her father on this matter and I am sure she will manage to let him understand his mistake, and as a result, they may start seeing a change in his behavior.
Here’s what the members of the AITA voted and had to say:
7. We all hope he gets the message and reacts rationally to this event.

8. It was a great way of showing him his mirror image.
Via u/Throwaway61565
9. OP was extremely brave to do this.
Via u/Throwaway61565
10. Surely the father didn’t enjoy the feeling of what happened but he must grasp the deeper message that OP was trying to communicate.

11. OP was commended for a great job.
Via u/Throwaway61565
12. Surely some part of him realized how toxic his behavior was.
Via u/Throwaway61565
13. Just like OP doesn’t complain about how her Dad didn’t do well in the office on a certain day, her Dad shouldn’t complain about the carpet not being placed correctly either.
Via u/Throwaway61565
14. He realized he needs a makeover…one from within.
Via u/Throwaway61565
15. This is a solid suggestion that OP should follow.

Cat tax.
Meet Smokey. This poor guy was abandoned by his mother cat and was found by his current owner in terrible condition. They didn’t have any plans to nurse Smokey but they couldn’t leave him in that condition so they decided to go for it. They worked effortlessly and transformed him into a healthy felint. The picture on the left is from when he was only 3 weeks old and the one on right was taken at the age of 7 months. What a difference love and care make.
