Abandoned Senior Dog Finds Himself A Job And Becomes Full-Time Employee At Gas Station

Abandoning your pet is the worst thing a person can do.

I can not imagine how one can just leave their pets all alone on the road with no shelter or food. Why do you take the responsibility of raising a living creature if you are not ready to look after it? Why abandon them when you can just give them to shelters? Give them to a friend or something. Why leave them all alone to die? This is possibly the worst thing a pet owner can do to their pets. It is cruelty. To raise and love an animal, make them get used to you, they depend on you only for you to abandon them. How cruel. Literally disgusting. Home-raised dogs can not survive on the roads to fend for themselves as stray dogs can. They either die from starvation or homesickness. Some very lucky ones get the chance to live in their forever homes if they end up in good hands.

Something similar happened with this stray dog in Brazil. He was abandoned by his owners but ended up as a lovely employee at a gas station. This is not all, scroll down to read the whole story…

Meet Negão. He is not an average dog. He is an employee at his new owner’s gas station. He is happy, healthy, and very loveable. Unfortunately, things were not always this great for Negão.

A few years ago, Sabrina Planner and her partner purchased a Shell gas station in the town of Mogi das Cruzes, Brazil, which was still under construction. Around that time, Negão was a stray dog, loitering around the construction site. When the gas station owners started noticing a disheveled and confused dog wandering near the construction site, they started asking people around about this dog. They found out that he was dumped by his previous owners, abandoned on the road, and was not exactly a stray dog.

The couple was so touched by this dog and his story, they immediately decided to help save a life and adopted Negão right away.

The pair took this senior dog to the vet and got him vaccinated and de-wormed. They bought everything necessary for a pet dog, a bed to sleep comfortably in, a leash to take him on walks, and food along with lots of love from the couple.

When the construction work finished and the gas station was ready to finally open, Negão was hired as an employee at the gas station to warmly welcome customers with a big smile. They even issued him with an official employee ID card and a uniform. It is so cute. Negão surprised everyone and left them in awe at how well he has taken his role and responsibility as an employee at the gas station. He is a natural at bringing everyone joy and he does his work with a huge smile on his face. Costumers get super delighted by this beautiful baby’s services as well.

Planner explained in an interview with The Dodo that, “Negão waits for people to arrive, and then goes up to say hello, winning them over with his charms. Customers love him. Some people even bring him toys.”

Being a great and hardworking employee that Negão is, he loves his job as a store welcomer a little too much.

These short encounters are not the only thing he has to do though, his owners made sure his days are not just limited to that. An employee from the gas station takes Negão on walks around the town every day for exercise. Fortunately, the gas station stays open 24/7 so there is always an employee around Negão for his safety who keeps checking upon him to make sure he is fine.

The charity Grupo FERA has made Negão their poster-pup for a local initiative that aims to pair needy and stray dogs to businesses if they can not find a traditional home for them. I hope this story influences everyone to stop abandoning their pets and I hope it gives every businessman an idea to help save a life by giving these canine buddies employment at their workplaces because who would not want to be greeted by such warm welcomers? If you ever plan to go to Brazil and just happen to visit the town of Mogi das Cruzes, please make sure you go to this Shell gas station and pay Negão a visit.
