It feels so good when you are one step ahead of the deteriorating system we all live in. The factor of knowledge and awareness makes us make better decisions for our betterment. OP shared he was offered a promotion at his workplace and the new job title sounded very attractive. However, with the responsibilities doubling, the pay being offered for the new position was a very minimal raise compared to what OP was already making. OP knew this because he knew what they were offering for the same position the person they last hired.

Although OP knew the pay being offered was never going to be worth accepting the promotion, the new job title made him still titled towards accepting the promotion. Not knowing what to do, OP turned to the internet for advice.

1. I wonder what this is about because normally promotions make all of us so happy.

2. Although OP was receiving a promotion, the pay being offered for that position was much lower compared to the last time they hired for the same position…OP knew all about this.

3. OP would get promoted to do double the work he had been previously doing, but the salary in no way was aligned with the workload.

4. OP is interested in taking the promotion but the minimal pay raise is making him question the offer.

5. OP shared he would certainly be looking for a new, better-paying, job but asked the internet if he should tell his current employer how insulting the offered promotion was.

I have a strategy in mind that clicked instantly when I read about the promotion. I am sure the internet would advise the same. I would say OP should take the promotion and get the improved job title even if it isn’t value for money. This way OP would be able to upgrade his CV and look for new jobs with that new job designation that he got promoted to.

OP would easily find a much better-paying job with his new job title.

Here’s the advice Internet had for OP:

6. What they were paying for that promoted position was an absolute disgrace. However, OP must take the offer so he can find a better position elsewhere.

8. Job for a new job right away…but with a new job title so accept the promotion.

9. Ask for a raise, what is the worst they could do?

10. They really do think we are that dumb? Seriously?

11. OP tried what the internet advised. Neither did they agree to a raise nor more vacation. Safe to say, OP is really to move forward.

These employers are using the terrible economic times, that we going through, to their advantage and our disadvantage. So unfortunate. They know people want jobs because they want money. The desperation makes people settle for less. The employer takes 10 times more work from the employee and pays 10 times less. This is a sad reality and people fall for this trickery because they have no other choice.
