Employees of any organization are the reason why they succeed. It is the employees who work extremely hard, who work day and night to generate the projects from the business and make the company flourish. For this reason, the top management should always respect its employees. The manager should be a father to its employee, that is how strong and cohesive this relationship should be. This is the only way to make the employees keep exceeding their potential and outperforming themselves. The biggest motivating factor will always be respect.
However, they are so many bad companies out there that just don’t want to acknowledge their employees for their efforts. And trust me, such businesses never succeed, they always end up in turmoil, and when they do there are no good employees to save them. When the company realizes it, it is too late and it ends up shutting down most of the time. That is exactly what happened with the grocery store in today’s story.
Reddit user u/jocrow1996 shared he worked at a grocery store and kept getting frequent promotions throughout his 3 years there but they would never raise his pay with those promotions. This was really unfair. What did it for OP was the fact that he applied for a day off about half a year in advance and still got rejected for it. The manager didn’t even give it a second thought. That is when OP decided to quit the job. Within a few months after OP left the store, it shut down.

2. Woah, who does this scheduling? So terrible.
And then the boss would threaten OP too? This is unfair exploitation at its peak.

3. Amidst the extremely rigid organizational structure, OP requested a day off.

4. Without even giving it a thought the manager rejected the request for the leave OP tried giving in 4.5 months in advance.

5. OP quit the job a few days later and just a few months after he left the store announced they were closing.

That is what happens when you don’t value your employees. Any organization that treats its employees the way this store did is never going to survive for long. That’s just how it is. The senior management needs to respect its employees, it needs to understand the true worth of its employees. Respecting the employees is in the best interest of the business; for its success and its longevity.
Here’s what the internet had to say about this:
6. That is how they should be dealt with.

7. They think they own the employees. They are very wrong.

8. They will not, so true.

9. I just don’t understand what joy they find in mistreating their employees.

10. Yes there are some good stores but that is very rare.

11. That is how it should be globally.

12. They won’t be coming anyway on that day. If they are requesting to take a day off on that specific day so much in advance, surely it is a very important one and no one will be missing it.
