In this story, OPl was working as a cashier at a local small grocery and butcher shop. The shop’s management decided to have cashiers perform the end-of-day butcher shop clean-up/sanitizing instead of hiring someone specifically for that task. The person was not happy with this arrangement as they were hired to work as a cashier and stock shelves, not to clean up the butcher area.
When the individual refused to clean the butcher area and insisted on their original job description, the owner threatened to fire them if they didn’t comply. In response to this ultimatum, OP decided to quit and left the premises.
While the person thought that their departure would lead to the owners reconsidering the cleaning arrangement, it didn’t happen. The owners continued to buzz the phone in the butcher area, assuming the person would eventually give in and come back to work. However, the individual did not return, leading to a significant loss for the store as the liquor area, cigarettes, and scratchers were left unattended and got emptied out by customers.
Feeling upset about the loss and seeking retribution, the owner called the police and accused the individual of being an accomplice to the thefts that occurred while they were absent. However, when the police reviewed the CCTV footage, it clearly showed that the owner had fired the person before the thefts took place.
