Our whole story from gaining consciousness post-birth to the very last breath we breathe depends on our life choices. We make our own decisions and that is how it should be, no one should make our decisions for us. Same way, the other person associated with us any way should respect the decisions we make and honor them the way we do.
Today’s story revolves around the same topic. Reddit user u/throw_93758 shared that she had decided for herself she wouldn’t marry anyone or have any kids, and she is really happy with this decision of hers. Now, ideally, if she is happy with this decision then no one should have a problem with it, it should be honored and respected by everyone she knows. However, at the age of 29, OP says she keeps getting bugged by her mother, her stepfather, and her stepsiblings to get a boyfriend, have kids, and ultimately settle down. She shares they have been forcing her to “settle down” since she was 19 years old. But she would always deny and say no, however, the annoyance would continue to build on as they wouldn’t stop asking her to start a family.
OP finally reached her saturation point as she got asked the same question at a Thanksgiving dinner. She confronted her entire family at the dinner table by saying she doesn’t have kids but at least she is a better person compared to them who are cheaters, alc*holics and broke. The table was left speechless as no one knew how to respond to the reality check they received from OP.

1. I don’t endorse them but dramas on Thanksgiving are the best.
2. OP believes she might be an AH for this. I think that decision authority shall remain reserved with the AITA community. We can never decide it for ourselves.
3. OP is not married yet at the age of 29 and doesn’t have kids either. But she says this is her choice and she is quite happy with it. However, I am guessing the key players listed by OP don’t like this decision of hers.
4. The family had consistently been asking to get a boyfriend and settle down but she would always deny by saying no.
5. For this reason OP was going to skip Thanksgiving but her mom insisted she come as her youngest stepbrother and his wife were going to have another baby and the announcement was due that day.
6. OP went to Thanksgiving and the same happened. She was asked once again when she would have kids.
7. This led to an argument starting all over again about OP and her future. Her mother showed serious concern too which made OP melt slightly thinking she actually might be an AH for this.
This is OP’s life and if she is happy with where she is then I don’t think her family should bother her. She didn’t say anything to anyone about getting married or having children so why are others bothering her for the decision she has taken regarding not getting married or having a baby?

8. OP had had enough so she decided to blow up at everyone sitting at the dinner table by calling them alc*holics, cheaters, and broke.
9. Her confrontation shut down everyone up who didn’t say anything at the dinner but blew up OP’s phone by sending all sorts of hate through text messages. OP was firm in her stance but still took the matter to the courts of the AITA community.
