This husband wanted to choose friends over family.
Imagine how happy the parents feel at the birth of their first-ever baby. The moment means everything to them as they declare it their best memory. Children are bliss. But making one and loving one once it is born is far easier than birthing one. Yes, you cannot believe how hard it is for a mother to get through those 9 months and deliver the baby. When it is time, she requires all the support she can possibly get and her husband is the one who she needs to be there, stand next to her, and calm her down as much as he can while she delivers the baby. It is really nerve-wracking for the very time. And not having your husband around during that major event is just not acceptable. And this wife didn’t accept that either.
Today’s story is about a woman who was closing in on her due date to give birth to her first baby and needed all the support of her husband on the big day. Her husband however had planned a trip with his friends which was years in the making and the dates ollieded with the due date of his wife. OP asked him not to go and the husband insisted on going. She ended up posting the matter on the subreddit r/AITA. She wanted to know whether she was wrong for wanting her husband to cancel his trip.

2. You just hate when a highly anticipated plan keeps getting postponed.
3. Now that the trip gets a green flag, the dates of the husband’s trip collide with his wife’s due date.
4. OP explains how she wants her husband to be there when the time comes as he is the only family she has got.
5. But the husband insisted on proceeding with the trip instead of being with her during the time of delivery.
6. Her husband has a son who she doesn’t plan on caring for after getting back home from the hospital.

8. OP didn’t want to ruin her husband’s adventure that was 4 years in the making but she also wanted him to be there on “their” big day with her. So she leaves the matter to the community of AITA.
I would never declare OP the AH for this. She is totally in the clear. Even though the husband has nothing to do with the baby being deliver, the presence is what soothes the wife through the process. She feels so happy and proud that the couple will together see their baby come to this world. And when you hear that your husband will not be present on that day, you are bound to feel bad.
No matter how important your best friends are too, priorities are supposed to change after marriage. According to me, family comes first.
