A City In Mexico Has Launched A Program To Make Life Better For Street Dogs

The population of homeless dogs isn’t decreasing.

I know many people have varying opinions on getting their dogs to spay or neuter. While that is your opinion when it comes to your pet, street dogs don’t have that luxury. If they get pregnant, they don’t have the things needed to take care of their babies properly. And we also have to think about the fact that there are already so many dogs roaming on the street without a home that adding more into that population is not recommended.

That is exactly why a city in Mexico has launched a program by the name of Come Dogs to help street dogs. They have managed to install over 15 PVC food dispensers so that any dog can have a full meal. Not only that but the City of Soledad de Graciano Sanchez has also launched an ambulance especially for dogs, aptly named Ambudogs. Vets from all around the city are volunteering for free to spay and neuter these dogs and help them in any way they can.

There are over 300,000 dogs roaming the streets without a home. And they hope that this new program helps these dogs and also stops the population of dogs from increasing even more. But this is one the start as the city officials promise to do even more to help these homeless dogs which we will see in the future.

This lets any dog that comes by the food dispenser eat to their heart’s content.

Today I realize how many people appreciate this program, we have been congratulated by different means and, well, I am going to ask you to participate and help us to have a very successful refuge. There is an infectious picture when the puppy is born and if a month and a half is not vaccinated mainly by distemper or parvovirus, there is a contagion, both in people and animals, then this ambulance will be taken to all the suburbs to attend to all the puppies.

And they have also launched an Ambudog.

People are already commenting on what the program can do better with what they have.

If anyone reading this is involved in this project, an easy solution to the rain/wet food problem is to simply drill a few holes on the bottom side of the tube where the food sits so water can drain through…. kind of like a strainer. –Troy Way

Something should be added to the food, I think to control the population like a morning-after pill for dogs? If not they will just keep multiplying. –Gary Satterfield

And it has all the things needed to help these dogs.

Do you think your city should launch such a program as well? Or does your city already have a way to help street animals? If so, why not share with us in the comments below. And if you are from this city, we would love to know how this program is working for dogs there.
