Man Gives Away His Dog To A Family, Gets Fumed To Learn The Family Has Renamed The Dog

The day you give away your pet to a new family, you lose all the rights of your pet.

Rehoming a pet is a better decision than abandoning a pet. A dog owner decided to rehome his dog since his fiancé and his stepson had to move to his place. His stepson was allergic to the dog so he decided to give the dog away to a family who would take care of the dog. He found the perfect family and got the paperwork done. He gave his dog “Willy” away to the new owners. He requested the new owners to make him talk to his dog sometimes and they were kind enough to do so.

After some months, OP called the owners to ask about Willy when he noticed that someone is calling him “Rudy”. He was shocked and yelled at the new owner that they have no right to rename Willy and that this name was given by him. The new owners told OP that he has no right to tell them that they should call the dog by his old name and now the dog is theirs and they can call him by whatever name they like. Scroll down to read what OP did next.

1. OP used to have a German Shephard “Willy” who he had to put up for adoption because his stepson was allergic to dogs. OP found a perfect family for Willy and handed him over to the family.

7. OP crossed so many boundaries.

OP should not have gone to the new owners after berating them on the phone and on social media. It’s harassment and the owners can file a case against him. He should accept the fact that his dog is now gone and does not belong to him. Also, he should seek therapy because his reaction might be a result of the emotions he has been feeling after his loved one (Willy) is gone.

8. If all that OP has said is right, then he should get mental help.

9. OP should leave the family alone.

10. OP should be grateful that the family is kind enough to let him interact with the dog he gave away.

11. The new owners have all the rights to Rudy.

12. OP should consider that Willy is no longer his dog and he should move on with this fact.

13. OP should take the help of a therapist to understand his behavior.

14. We can’t understand why OP thinks that the new family cannot handle the case legally.

15. The new family has just renamed the dog, they haven’t mistreated or abused the dog.

Clearly, OP is in the wrong for expecting the new owners not to change the name of the dog. What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comment section down below!
