Pregnant individuals require a comfortable bed.
Pregnancy can be physically demanding, and adequate rest is essential for both the expectant parent and the developing baby. Having a comfortable place to sleep is critical for pregnant women to get the rest they require. When it comes to providing pregnant people with a restful night’s sleep, there are several factors to consider, including finding the right mattress and creating a soothing sleep environment. As the pregnant person’s weight increases, it can be difficult for them to even get up, so the least they can do is relax while sleeping.
Do you know what is not relaxing? A bunk bed. Don’t get me wrong, a bunk bed sounds like fun, especially if you sleep on the top bunk, but that’s only true if it’s not too small, has a comfortable mattress, and the room has a tall ceiling. That is usually not the case with bunk beds, which is why they are typically reserved for children. What you do not do is ask a pregnant woman to sleep on an uncomfortable bunk bed. Especially not when they are on vacation and want to enjoy themselves. Apparently, this family missed the memo and thought their actions were perfectly acceptable.

Bunk beds always sound fun, but they are never as comfortable as you would hope.

OP and his family decided to go on a vacation, and they ended up booking an Airbnb for the trip so they could all stay together.

OP and his wife came in a little later than check-in, and they were immediately told that their room had a bunk bed, which OP thought was a joke.

As it turns out, it wasn’t a joke, and while everyone had queen-size beds, OP and his pregnant wife were stuck with bunk beds.

OP and his wife didn’t want to cause a scene, so they stayed quiet and decided to try sleeping in bed anyway.

They tried their best to sleep on the bunk bed, but it was extremely uncomfortable, so they finally ended up on the couch.

The couch wasn’t exactly comfortable, but it was better than their bunk bed.

They went back to the bunk beds to get more sleep, but after an hour, they gave up and went downstairs.

OP and his wife decided to book a hotel as they couldn’t sleep in such an uncomfortable bed for five nights.

OP thought his family would be supportive, but they were instead angry at him for ruining their trip.

I’m amazed the family saw nothing wrong with this. I understand that the rule is first come, first served, but these are not children. I believe the parents should have been more thorough when booking the place to ensure that no one ended up in a children’s room. And if that wasn’t possible, they shouldn’t have assigned the only room with a bunk bed to a pregnant woman. I believe OP performed admirably and did not cause any problems. He simply found a solution, and his parents and siblings are completely in the wrong.
People in the comments were 100% on the OP’s side.

They should have thought about it before they gave the OP and his wife a bunk bed.

It would not be comfortable for a pregnant individual to sleep on a bunk bed.

I would not be happy if my parents did this to me.

Most people in this situation wouldn’t have been as nice.

The email could have been a lot more accommodating if they wanted to be.

I wonder why they did it.

It was everyone for themselves.

First come, first choice only works as a kid.

I do feel like they have some sort of beef with OP and his wife.
