Manager Wants To Fire An Employee, They End Up Getting A 10k Raise Instead

Higher-ups sometimes don’t understand the ground-level work.

I understand that companies are all about money most of the time and that makes sense. However, they have to understand that keeping their employees happy and giving them incentives is just another way to make sure that your employees work hard directly affecting your profit. Although that doesn’t usually happen as most companies try to cut their costs wherever they can even if it means cutting out employees that have a lot of responsibilities.

This happens a lot, especially with assistants or people with the job description of helpers. Most people seem to think that these jobs are easily replaceable since there is no way to quantify the work they do. However, they sure feel the chaos once these people leave the company, and then the managers are left scrambling. This is one such story but it does end pretty well for the employee in question.

We first get a little bit of background as to how things used to work in this company especially when it came to technology.

Simply put, most people didn’t use the tools they had been given to their fullest potential and the poster knew this.

Things were going okay at the job but that was before this person came in and riled everyone up.

Not long after, this employee discovered a folder that was the last straw and they went on a long vacation to getaway.

Unsurprisingly, everything was utter chaos by the time they came back and their boss wanted them back no matter what as soon as possible.

So they got the raise they deserved and their boss apologized for the way they were treated in the past.

I am always left gobsmacked by stories like these. It is as if higher-ups don’t understand what happens at the ground level of their company. They are always hell-bent on making their employees uncomfortable and treating them horribly. I am not saying every person in a higher-up position is like this but these sorts of stories don’t paint managers in a pretty picture. I am just relieved that this particular employee got what he deserved. Because we all know he deserved that raise judging by how much work he actually did around the office.

People in the comments shared their own experiences with these sorts of job descriptions.

Honestly, they are quite lazy until everything hits the fan, and then they are forced to take action.

The support staff is usually a big part behind why everything works smoothly.

Basically, a company can’t go on without the help of their support so it is imperative the higher-ups treat their employees with respect.

A person needs to know their self-worth to work in any capacity so they get what they deserve to earn.

It is always nice to be appreciated for the work you do but most bosses just don’t do that and always expect more from you.

Some people even had their stories to share as they work in similar positions as well.

Sometimes even a boss can’t do anything since they aren’t at the top of the ladder.

If they don’t want this to happen, they should treat their employees better.

I do not recommend starting a fire but this is great advice if you do not take it literally.
