Mom Calls Out Guy In Cafe Who Wanted To Use It As His Office And Was Getting Annoyed By Her Kid

Mumsnet is a forum where parents from all around the world post stories of all sorts. Sometimes the stories are posted to know if they were being reasonable or not. It’s like the AITA subreddit but mostly used by parents only.

One mother used this UK-based forum to ask the internet if she was being unreasonable after sharing a story about a situation that took place at a cafe. The mother was at the cafe with her toddler and they were enjoying a nice breakfast while a man at the cafe was on a video call with his team at a table nearby. According to the mother, her child was singing and babbling but in a very peaceful way and was definitely not loud at all. But the man on the video cal was not happy about it and was getting annoyed by the toddler. He kept showing with his body language to the mom that he was getting distracted and annoyed by the toddler. The mother decided to call him out for it.

How it all went down is for you guys to read. Scroll down below to enjoy!

1. The mom was hesitant to share the story at first but she still decided to do it because she really wanted to know who was right and who was wrong.

5. The guy tried to move to a new table after getting a solid reality check but because the cafe was too busy he had to return to the same spot.

That is actually so embarrassing.

6. OP asked the commenters if she was being unreasonable or not for confronting the guy for using the cafe as his office.

7. The mom’s logic was that if you really want to work from home then use your home to work, not a public place.

I am sure there will be comments both in favor of the mother and against what she did. We will read them in a moment. But I personally believe the mother was right for confronting that man. I don’t mind the guy using his computer at a cafe to have a meeting with his team members, it is a public place after all and he has all right to do what he wants as long as he stays within the limits of the law. But the fact that he was showing so loudly that the toddler is annoying him is where he was wrong. That’s when you get a sense of entitlement from that guy because if he was using the cafe as a workspace then he has no right to get annoyed by a toddler singing songs at a cafe…using it as its play area. The guy was using the cafe as his office and I would side with the mom confronting him for it. So, mama, you were not being unreasonable at all.

To explain her point of view the mom added this comment:

8. You just cannot expect an office environment while you are sitting in a cafe where people come to eat and chit-chat.

Many people supported OP. Here’s what they had to say:

9. A cafe is not your personal workplace.

10. Stay at home if you want silence.

11. These people take the table for too long and people who come to the cafe to eat have to wait because an entitled person is using a table as their workstation.

12. Too arrogant.

13. They are the ones who are actually annoying everyone else in the public place.

But there were also some with other views of their own:

14. Groups of moms also get together at such places and often leave the place a disgrace.

15. The guy rolling his eyes at the mom was not reason enough for her to confront him.

16. Had the kid made noise and the mother had gotten confronted for it, she would’ve made so many posts about people being “anti-kids”.
