Tipping is a widespread practice in many parts of the world.
Tipping your servers has become a common practice in America, where it is often regarded as a way to express gratitude for excellent service. At least, that is how it should be. However, because servers are not adequately compensated for their work in restaurants, it is typically up to the customer to provide them with at least the minimum wage. Although tipping is not expected or considered necessary in many other countries around the world, where service charges are frequently included in the bill, this cultural difference in tipping customs can cause confusion and misunderstandings for both travellers and service industry workers.
I understand that this may ruffle some feathers, but I believe tipping is a peculiar custom in its own right. I understand that servers in America are underpaid, but I believe it is the restaurant’s responsibility to pay their waiters rather than the customers. I’m not saying we should stop tipping our servers, but not everyone has the money to do so. Also, I’m not sure it’s appropriate for a server to refuse to provide service simply because they know they won’t receive a tip. However, I don’t know enough about American tipping practices to say much more about them.

The waitress in the video was doing her job when she came across a new table, and this is where things went down.
Right off the bat, the people at the table were clear that they weren’t going to give her any tips.
This obviously annoyed her, so she gave them some peace of mind, but very politely.
She said that she wasn’t going to serve them, and they could get a to-go order if they weren’t going to tip.

I can understand where the woman in this TikTok video is coming from. However, I’m not sure if it’s acceptable to refuse service to a customer. Wouldn’t the manager get angry at her? Or is this really normal, and many service workers do it? I understand that it is impolite not to tip, especially when you know that servers are not paid enough to live on. To be fair, the majority of the comments were in her favour, so I understand that many people want to do this but are unable to.
They are hardworking servers working for only the tip.
This is, honestly, so weird.
I don’t think the manager would be okay with this at all.

The real villains are definitely the restaurants.
