Sometimes we forget our personal boundaries.
Or more so that we forget to exercise them. We have been brought up as social creatures and that means we want the company around us to be as comfortable as they can be. However, in the process, we sometimes forget that we are sacrificing our personal boundaries too much in order for others to be okay.
While it is an admirable thing to be aware of others and what they want. You can’t really forget about yourself and your needs. If you ever feel uncomfortable in a situation, it is okay to leave. Although we are always told to smile and bear it, that is not the way to go. Whatever your gender may be, you have the right to set personal boundaries even if you may come off as rude to other people.
A Twitter thread that we all need to read.
Every parent should teach their child this important lesson.
It may seem rude at first.
But it is an important lesson for the future.
I mean her daughter was the one who started it.
So she was within her right to wanna go home.
And that is all that matters.
Being there for your child without question when they need you.
If someone is being knowingly or unknowingly you can leave.
You don’t deserve to listen to their insults.
The best thing just may be to walk away from the conflict.
it is not always easy to follow this lesson.
But it is important to remember so that you may know it is okay.
Everyone has had experiences where they were miserable doing something but they thought they weren’t allowed to leave. I have no idea why this is so ingrained in our society. But I know this mindset and I hope this will change in the future.
We have always been taught to ‘deal with it’.
However, there is no restriction and we are allowed.
Whenever or for whatever reason you want to leave, you can do it.
We have to stop teaching the next generation this toxic message.
If something is making you feel uncomfortable, you don’t have to do it.
Many of us haven’t been taught this by our families.
And every child needs to learn this regardless of their gender.
