Adopting is better than shopping.
It is unfair how people gush over dogs inside the pet shops but they do not really care about the ones inside the shelters. Dogs in a pet shop are not really taken good care of. They look pretty from the outside but they are exactly healthy and are mentally exhausted because of their unusual breeding procedures and they are operated under extreme conditions. It really messes with the animals psychologically and sure leaves a physical side effect.
We need to spread awareness on a very important subject like this. We need to be educated about such topics, we need to stop feeding into the puppy factory supply chain. They are living organisms, therefore they have feelings, they are just as valuable as us. They should not be objectified and put on display for sale. Keep scrolling to find out why shopping for dogs is the worst decision and instead why we should start adopting them…

Let’s be honest here, you do not see such dogs with disabilities or medical conditions in a pet shop because it probably ruins their image of perfect dog breeders. So, what happens to dogs with disabilities? The ones who actually need more care. They are most probably killed because what do you expect from breeders who do not even care for the dogs they are selling. Those creatures are nothing but money-making machines to them. This is how normal dogs get treated in such shops, I can only imagine how disabled dogs become victims of such monstrous acts. I am quite sure if you were to find out that researches show that in the US approximately around three million dogs and cats get euthanized in a year if they do not end up in a home. It is so heartbreaking and inhumane. It makes me sick to my stomach. They are innocent and helpless living creatures, they do not deserve this cruelty. Therefore buying dogs from shops or breeders destroys the chance of a dog getting adopted which equals to them getting euthanized by the end of the year.
Why spend money buying dogs worth $500 to $1000 or even more expensive if you can just adopt them for free? It is a bonus that some of the shelter dogs are already trained. Purchasing a dog from pet shops or breeders is not morally incorrect and does not automatically make you a bad person, you are not morally inferior. It is just that you are unintentionally and unknowingly supporting an institution that treats dogs (and other pet animals) poorly. we are just trying to spread awareness on this topic and trying to educate everyone. Please, take some time out and research how pets get mistreated by breeders and in pet shops.
