Senior Employee Quits After Being Told To Move Back To NYC For Work, Leaves The Company Shaking

senior employee quits

An employee who realizes his/her true worth is always in the front seat when it comes to being part of any sort of negotiation with the company they work for. They fully understand that without them, the company will instantly start suffering. That does not mean they exploit this power, if you can call it that, these are actually very good human beings. But when the company forces them, they are left with no other choice but to take revenge.

Today’s story is about a very experienced senior programmer who was a crucial part of a hedge fund company, their entire trading mechanism depended on a code that he had built from scratch. After COVID came, everyone was asked to work from home so the programmer decided to move to Michigan, away from New York City where the company is situated. Once COVID finished, the programmer was asked to return to work and he told to his boss that he is now in Michigan and he would like to continue working from home. This angered the boss who threatened to fire the programmer. Knowing his true worth, the programmer decided to quit before he could be fired.

As soon as the programmer left, the company began to collapse as no one at the base knew how to maintain the code used for making trades that was built by the senior programmer who had now quit. About a million trades per day were in jeopardy. The CEO had to get involved as he got in touch with the senior manager to negotiate a way for him to return back to the company. I guess you know who was in the driving seat as the negotiations began.

13. Tim wrote the main code the company’s whole trading mechanism operated on and to have a new employee understand it thoroughly would take time.

If only bad bosses had the brains to understand the true value and worth every single employee is individually providing to the company as a whole. Tim knew the code inside out and understood the complexities of it as well. I am sure if any issue occurred with the main problem having something to do with the code, Tim must’ve solved it within minutes. Without him, they are going to suffer.

The company is going to have to get him back or else they will crumble. Let’s see what happens next. Scroll down below to continue!

14. 6 weeks later, the CEO, John, stepped in and request Tim to rejoin the company.

17. Tim demanded a 15% raise and the removal of Larry if John wanted him back.

18. Tim gives very little time to John to work on both conditions and a day before the deadline, he finally called.

20. You can only let others know about your true worth if you recognize it yourself. Tim fully knew exactly how valuable he was.
