Yes, OP. You will most certainly be the a**hole if you steal Tycho, and yes that is stealing. Don’t think for a second you can keep someone else’s dog because you believe it is the right animal for you. That’s not how connections work. Wait till Tycho gets a glimpse of his owner, he will go crazy and run faster than a cheetah to hug her. And then you will realize how big of an AH you were stealing your sister’s dog.

And one thing that is even more hilarious is mentioned in the seventh paragraph in which OP says she will have her sister “support” Tycho. So basically she wants to keep the animal but does not want to pay for its expenditure. Girl, you are autistic but that doesn’t mean you can escape anything. You are a complete AH and your husband is an even bigger AH for agreeing with this ridiculous plan.

Here’s what the community members of AITA had to say and vote:

9. Even though she was away she did everything in her power to make life comfortable for her sister as she felt Tycho might be a burden on OP.

10. That is a really good suggestion and OP should take this into consideration.

11. Exactly, everything that dog is today is due to the efforts of its owner.

12. The dog never belonged to OP and she has no right to keep it. It will count as stealing and I don’t think an autistic person would like to spend time in jail.

13. Exactly, this could turn into hell for OP.

14. As simple as that.

15. She would be a disgrace if she stole Tycho. Instead, she should talk to her sister and request her to rescue a dog that she could adopt…if she loves and wants a dog that much.
