Woman’s Cat Mauls And Kills BF’s Pet Bird, GF Told Him The Bird Escaped Through An Open Window

An ideal relationship is based on honesty. Occasionally, however, we find ourselves in situations where lying seems like the better course of action. A Reddit user who has deleted her account asked Reddit’s AITA community if she is an A-Hole for lying to her boyfriend after her cat killed his bird. OP and her boyfriend moved in together in a condo, but their pets presented challenges. He owns a bird while the OP owns a cat. It worked well until OP’s boyfriend left for a work trip and they needed to keep the duo apart for peace of mind. OP was asked to clean the birdcage by her boyfriend while he was away. Initially, she was apprehensive but eventually gave in when her boyfriend said the cage would stink and be gross by the time he returns. According to the OP, she put the cat in the carrier and went to look after the bird. OP says, the bird is usually calm, but on this specific day, it freaked out and flew away. The bird’s movement caused the cat to break out of its cage due to its movements. OP was unable to intervene before the cat climbed up the couch and seized the bird. The bird was killed despite her attempts to convince the cat to leave and she even got scratched in the process. Thus, she disposed of the bird, called her boyfriend, and lied that it had flown out of an open window. According to the OP, she lied because her boyfriend doesn’t like the cat, and telling him the truth would make him want to get rid of the cat. Is she an A-Hole for not telling his boyfriend what had actually happened? keep on scrolling down to find out.
