Christian Bale portrayed Trevor Reznik, a machinist with severe insomnia, in “The Machinist” (2004). Reznik became extremely thin as a result of his lack of sleep. Bale needed to look extremely thin for the role, so he underwent a dramatic body transformation. For four months, he followed a draconian diet consisting of only one can of tuna fish and one apple per day.
2. 50 Cent – All Things Fall Apart
In the film “Things Fall Apart,” 50 Cent lost nearly 60 pounds to play a football player diagnosed with cancer. The rapper revealed that he lost weight by going on a liquid diet and running three hours a day for nine weeks.

In Schaefer’s film “Chapter 27,” Jared Leto played Mark David Chapman. To match the killer’s doughy physique, the actor added 67 pounds to his frame. By the end of the shoot, the extra weight had taken its toll, and he couldn’t even walk to the set.

5. Presenting you Chris Hemsworth – In the Heart of the Sea
Chris Hemsworth revealed that he lost about 15 pounds while filming the historical seafaring epic “In the Heart of the Sea.” To convincingly portray starving men, the performer’s diet was gradually reduced throughout the production. By the time he started shooting on the sea around the Canary Islands, he was consuming only 500 calories per day, which consisted of a boiled egg, a stick of celery, and a couple of crackers.
6. Domhnall Gleeson – Unbroken
In the Louis Zamperini biopic “Unbroken,” Domhnall Gleeson got serious about looking like an emaciated prisoner of war. Domhnall Gleeson lost so much weight for the role that his contact lenses no longer fit.

Matt Damon revealed that he gained between 25 and 30 pounds in order to play Mark Whitacre in “The Informant.” Even though weight gain was required for the role, Damon’s friends mocked him mercilessly.
