It’s not your fault if your employer is disorganized! This employee discovered as much when they’re over a month and a half in advance PTO request was refused in an email that was egregiously rude and badly written.
This thread, which u/carter221298 uploaded to Reddit’s r/antiwork community, wonderfully encapsulates the symptoms of a toxic workplace and a poorly run business. If a company cannot function without an employee for five days (especially when they have plenty of time to prepare and figure everything out beforehand), it shows how unorganized the business as a whole is as well as how irreplaceable the individual is. In the end, this indicates that the employee has a lot of leverage, as they may have discovered by reading comments from readers. Instead of complying in this situation, put your foot down. If they really need you as much as they claim, they can’t afford to lose you.
