What if I tell you that by simply working your scheduled hours, you could throw a wrench in their plans and force them to shape up or ship out?

It might sound too good to be true, but the fact is, when you are dealing with an incompetent boss, simply doing your job can be a powerful tool and this is exactly what this Redditor did. So, this person works as a supervisor in a manufacturing plant for an 8.5 hours shift. Soon after he joined, he got to know that the supervisor for the second shift usually leaves early so OP started covering his hours too. He would complete his shift and the hours of the other supervisor. OP had two bosses. A new boss joined and when she saw OP leaving early from work, she wrote him an email regarding his timing. The next day, she emailed him again and called him to talk and handed him a formal warning. They went to HR and the boss told HR that she wants him to complete his shift so OP started doing exactly what his boss wanted. Little did his boss know that he used to come in early at work. Sarah was angry at OP for leaving at 7:15 because he came in two hours early. Sarah sends OP an email regarding his shift.

OP was a competent employee who kept working overtime and covered the work of other employees but he was never appreciated for his work. It’s weird how her boss noticed that he is leaving early but never noticed that he has been working overtime and covering others’ duties. Well, OP agreed to what his boss said and started working for only 8.5 hours so the company had to hire another contractor and a supervisor to cover the other supervisor’s gaps.

The company had to hire a contractor at $125 an hour. They also had to hire a fourth supervisor at $85k and Sarah got demoted.
