This is the bitter reality of having a pet.
When you adopt a pet, you only think about the good times that you’re going to have with them. You want to grow old with them and have a wonderful life. Yes, life with a pet can be very amazing as they become a part of our family. We grow very attached to them and we simply can not imagine a life without them. Your pet also becomes your best friend and one of your reasons to live. We think we will have them around forever but unfortunately, that is not the truth. We are not ready for the tragic fact that our pet will live a shorter life than us.
Reddit user u/abernha3 shared a picture of his cat with the r/cats community that emotionally wrecked it. It was a picture of his sick and beloved cat, Andrew, on his last day. Andrew was on his last car ride and he decided to hold their hands to provide them with emotional support for one last time.
“Little Andrew was my junior.” says Abernha3, “He was 15 and a half and loved every one, but just got old and sick over the last year. He purred every day of his life and when he lost that, I knew it was time. Always sad to lose a friend. Sorry for everybody else’s losses as well.”
This was the photo that made everyone bawl their eyes out.

It is almost impossible to prepare yourself for such a loss. Losing a pet is just like losing a family member. It is tragic and you need time to heal from it. I wish our pets could live forever but that is not how life works. We try to ignore the thought of our pet’s death until they unexpectedly fall ill or grow old. But it is what it is. We should cherish the time that we get to spend with them.
The Reddit community was deeply saddened and offered their condolences.
He must be a huge source of emotional support for his family.

Trust me, I’m crying in the middle of work too.
