However, Riley’s owner was just annoyed by the interruption and said so as well.

This unsurprisingly made OP quite annoyed, and she let it out.

And that is how she ended up on Reddit asking if she was in the wrong.

I understand that caring for a pet is not as simple as it appears at first, and we all need to take breaks from time to time. However, this is not the way to go about it. It is critical to remember that responsible pet ownership includes respecting others and their pets in public places. If you need a break, it is preferable to find an appropriate alternative, such as hiring a dog walker or using doggy daycare services, rather than ignoring your pet’s needs or causing disruptions in common areas. The woman’s dog could have been hurt, but she continued to ignore OP’s pleas. And if her dog had been injured, I’m sure she would have made a big deal about it and portrayed herself as the victim.
