Employees of any business are its foundation, without them, it will cease to function, and collapse. There is no other way of putting it. Employees are extremely crucial to an organization’s success. They are extremely significant and ideally, they should be treated accordingly. After all, modern human resource management is all about treating your employees as the company’s resource. And there is no doubt about the fact that many companies around the world treat their employees as their most important asset, the way they should be treated. However, bad bosses will always exist and they will continue to through their employees under the bus just to either mess with them or at times for absolutely no reason at all.
In today’s story, we have Reddit user blargnblah who shared that she had promised her friend that she will be her bridesmaid at her wedding. For this, OP applied for a day off way in advance and got the form signed and the leave accepted. But when the time came, OP realized she had been scheduled for work on Saturday, the day of the wedding. When she told her supervisor it was her day off, the supervisor responded by saying she doesn’t remember any day off being approved or even such a request coming in. OP decided o retaliate in the best way possible and caused the company to bare losses.
Now, what did OP do in response to this unfair treatment by her supervisor is for you guys to read. Scroll down below to enjoy!
1. OP got a day off verified and approved to attend her friend’s wedding as a bridesmaid.

2. But when the time came, her supervisor totally switched on her and said there was no request put in for a day off.

3. OP tried to tell her supervisor how important it was for her to be at the wedding.

4. So OP decided to call in sick for the whole weekend and enjoyed the wedding to her fullest.
Previously OP was only going to be at the wedding for one day, the main day of the wedding. After realizing her boss had made a blunder and would never agree to it, OP decided to call in sick and enjoyed the entire wedding. Very nice!

5. That is why you are never supposed to mess with your employees.

6. The boss and supervisor wanted to through OP under the bus but she did not budge…instead she quit 2 months later.

Here are some of the comments shared on the story:
7. You really cannot help it when bad bosses put you under this much stress.
Via blargnblah
8. A magic no one will ever be able to master other than bad bosses.
Via blargnblah
9. Definitely not the wedding…definitely not.
Via blargnblah
10. An employee taking a day off is a notice, not a request.
Via blargnblah
11. Kill them with kindness.

You can tell the supervisor tried to f*ck OP over to the best of her abilities but she had no idea that employees of today know how to deal with such bad bosses. It basically went like “You randomly decide to eat up my approved day off? Well, absorb all these losses to the business now as I call in fake-sick and enjoy my friend’s wedding anyway”. I absolutely loved this.
Oh and yes I absolutely loved that comment that said an employee taking a day off is a notice, not a request. So many of us do not know about that and bad bosses try to exploit our lack of information. So bad.
12. The way it should be.

13. OP was nice or else they would’ve gotten in trouble for asking those questions.
Via blargnblah
14. Could’ve done that.
Via blargnblah
15. Precisely how to respond to such questions.
Via blargnblah
16. Where is the lie?
Via blargnblah
17. You don’t respect them, they will not work for you.
Via blargnblah
18. Don’t we all?
Via blargnblah
Turns out, so many people have had such experiences as well:
19. This is actually outrageous. The boss approved the day off, got invited to the wedding, refused to attend, and then yelled at his employee for going…wow.
Via blargnblah
20. Why cannot they just let their employees have a day off and do the stuff they had planned for that day…what is so wrong with that?
Via blargnblah
21. You take two vacations every month and that is alright…I request two days off for the first time in two years and that is a problem…
Via blargnblah
22. Poor boss kept trying to find ways to fire this employee but couldn’t do it.
I have heard about employees signing contracts without reading them thoroughly and suffering later. This is the first time I have read a story about a boss signing the contract blindly and suffering later for it. Absolutely hilarious!
