Family Member Asks For Earrings Back After 10 Years

Even family members can be really shady.

You grow up thinking your family can never be wrong. Just because someone is related to you by blood does not mean they will not scam you or double-cross you. However, the reality is that it is always the people closest to us who damage us the most. We are always betrayed by people who we never expect to hurt us. Being a brown Asian, it is very common to see people here starting businesses with family members. But I can not even begin to tell the stories I have heard of brothers or cousins committing fraud with their own family members and running away with their money. Evil can exist within a family too.

This Reddit user shared her conversation with a family member who was asking for earrings that they lent to the girl ten years ago. The girl could not seem to remember or recall anything like that happening but the family member kept insisting on checking the girl’s gold jewelry to find the earrings. The family member reached out to the girl asking if she still has the gold earrings. They wanted them back because apparently, they had memories of the family member’s uncle attached to them.

The girl asked which earrings she was referring to and the family member gave her a description. She still couldn’t recognize them.

When the family member was asked how long ago they lent her the earrings, they said ten years ago.

The person said they don’t even remember them but the family member kept insisting that she had them.

The family member asked her to get her gold from her mom.

The family member said they would come over to check whether the earrings were in the girl’s jewelry or not.

The girl said she wasn’t comfortable with the person coming over and checking their jewelry so she just asked the person to talk about it with her mom.

But the family member wouldn’t take no for an answer and even asked the girl’s mother to apologize.

That’s when the girl thought enough was enough and ended the conversation.

Well, this family member seems entitled as hell. I doubt the earrings even exist. All this sounds really shady to me and I think the family member just plans on stealing something that belongs to the girl. What a weird conversation. This person should not be entertained further.

This is what other Redditors had to say about the conversation:

What am I? A Leprechaun?

They suddenly remembered their uncle after 10 years? Sure.

This person is probably right.
