The girlfriend didn’t really enjoy what the boyfriend’s dog did.
Finding yourself the right partner is not an easy job at all. But it is recommended, as the elders say, to spend as much time as you may require to search and find the right one. You see, beauty and personality are two very different things that trigger the human brain in different ways. You may think you are in love with a woman or a man because they look hot. No, you are not in love, you are just highly attracted to them and the lust is probably taking over. When it comes to falling in love with the personality, that’s something you would refer to as genuine affection towards that person. You don’t care about looks, money, or any other factor. The true test of a relationship, though, comes after those first few dates where both parties try their hardest to hide all their flaws and create a scenario where everything is perfect. With time, that layer of “everything is perfect” starts to wear off and that is when you realize or understand whether your partner truly loves you or not. After all, accepting someone with all their flaws is what you refer to as true love.
Reddit user LauraJade2013, in today’s story, found herself in a similar situation when her “flaws” weren’t accepted. This happened on the day her boyfriend Michael had invited her over for a dinner date and also to meet his dog. She was excited about the event but things quickly took an unexpected turn when she reached the house. OP shared with the sacred community of AITA that she couldn’t believe what had just happened when Michael’s dog allegedly called her ugly. She decided to cancel the date and left.

To be honest, this is a no-brainer for me. The girlfriend was NTA in this situation. The boyfriend felt so careless. I mean even if the dog did gesture that OP was ugly, could Michael not have made something up? Why did he have to call her when he could’ve clearly saved the situation? The guy said how she was being insecure and too sensitive about what had just happened and that it could impact their relationship moving forward. I want to ask Michael if he is so concerned about their relationship and their married life, why didn’t he make the effort to save the situation that day? I strongly believe the only one who actually called OP “ugly” was Michael, the dog was used by him to indirectly say what he wanted to say.
