Pregnant Woman Asks If She Was Wrong For Being Jealous Of Her Pregnant Co-Worker

Pregnant Coworker Jealousy

There are people who love spreading all sorts of good news about themselves to everyone in their social circle. And there also exist those with a shy personality and who like to keep things to themselves. Both kinds of personalities should be respected. But in no way should the shy person’s personality be interpreted in a way that they don’t want to enjoy or have fun. They too have a heart, they just don’t prefer the spotlight only because they feel others may think weirdly about them.

However, this is exactly what happened in today’s story. Reddit user u/jo8674309 shared she got pregnant and was very happy. She decided to wait until 12 weeks to announce it. At the same time, her coworker also got pregnant and announced it to everyone pretty early. OP was happy that the two got pregnant together as they were good friends as well. But soon the relationship turned into that of jealousy. OP’s coworker, Kayla, would make frequent posts about her pregnancy sharing updates and her excitement while OP, owing to her private and shy personality, would never share many details about it.

Things got bad when the school they worked at threw a surprise baby shower party for Kayla but didn’t plan any for OP. OP did not like this and thought it was unfair that the school wasn’t doing anything for her and only for Kayla. The principal said they assumed she didn’t want a baby shower so that is why they didn’t arrange one for her.

Uncertain, OP decided to share this story on the subreddit “Am I The A$$hole?” to know if being jealous of her pregnant coworker was right or not. Scroll down below to read!

1. We all want to know the factor that made OP jealous.

2. OP gets along very well with her co-worker who is 10 years younger and very different from her. Good for them.

3. After many attempts made over the year, OP finally got pregnant with her husband and wanted to wait until 12 weeks to announce the good news because she had had miscarriages before reaching that week in the past.

It is always good to be sure about a piece of news yourself because spreading it out.

4. OP’s coworker, Kayla, also got pregnant around the same time and announced it way before OP.

5. Kayla enjoyed sharing much about her pregnancy while OP remained reserved owing to her shy and private personality.

6. This is why Kayla kept getting the spotlight every now and then by the other coworkers while OP got accused of not caring much about her pregnancy.

7. One day, the school threw a surprise baby shower for Kayla and everyone contributed, including OP.

8. OP felt they might have organized one for her too but no, it was just for Kayla.

9. She even asked the principal if she was getting a baby shower party but she said they all assumed she didn’t want one so there is none planned. This resulted in OP crying.

Okay, now this is out of order. They planned a baby shower for one pregnant worker and decided not to do it for the other because they “assumed” she didn’t want one. Where did that assumption come from? I feel so bad for OP. Just because she had a shy personality and didn’t like sharing every single thing about her body and her unborn baby with every single person they knew, they thought she doesn’t want to have any fun about her baby.

It is a baby shower. Pregnant women love baby showers. How hard was this to understand for the school?

10. After realizing OP was sad, some of her coworkers tried comforting her. She was hurt because she didn’t know if what she did was right.

11. They shouldn’t have made that assumption.

13. They knew OP was pregnant too. Throwing a baby shower for one pregnant coworker and not for the other is straight-up unfair.

14. They still didn’t plan it. So bad!
