Well, it turns out that growing older isn’t as enjoyable as it may appear. When we were children, each passing year meant that we were becoming more self-sufficient in life. But now that we’re adults, each passing year means we’ll be experiencing backache more regularly. Indeed, we generally avoid discussing age and how old a person appears. We all learn at some time in our lives that our age isn’t simply a number; it’s a pain in the as*.
It’s not cool to make age-related remarks. Children, on the other hand, are too young to be aware of this. And, on occasion, children make people feel exceedingly old, despite the fact that they are not. With just one simple sentence, these tiny gentlemen can render us adults dumbfounded. “Hello, Grandpa!” (assuming that one is just about 20 years old). They are devils disguised as angels.
