Corporations are unconcerned about their employees.
While I would argue that never is a strong word, it is unfortunately correct. For large corporations, we are just numbers, and as long as they make money, they don’t care about their employees’ lives. After all, to them, we are all disposable; they do not regard us as human beings. People have known this for generations, but the ambivalence of these corporations continues to astound us. That is exactly what happened to this individual.
Their uncle, you see, required medical leave after being diagnosed with terminal cancer. Not only did the company not care about any of this, but they continued to call about insurance and other matters after he died. What kind of sick person would do such a thing? Corporations that seem to care only about the bottom line. We may believe that if we put enough pressure on them, they will change, though they will pretend to care because of the optics when the situation calls for it.
As you might expect, this isn’t the first time something like this has occurred, and many people have similar stories to share.
Do they not keep records? This is just cruel.
It seems it is really hard for companies to show some kind of emotion.
Would it have hurt them to say sorry or anything of the like?
As I said, they only care about the bottom line.
Why am I not surprised that Disney isn’t as wholesome as they claim to be?
If someone did this to me, I would be pissed off as well.
Now, this is exactly how you handle people like these.
Why were they ‘thinking’ about calling 911? This is just absurd.
He was clearly too much of a liability for them.
We only deserve human decency if we are rich.
There is being insensitive and then there is this.
What if he had another heart attack? I bet they wouldn’t call 911.
I hope she is doing okay and kudos to her.
That is evidently how arrest warrants work.
Sadly, this comment is quite true.
She knew and yet she still did this? What kind of monster was she?
You can still offer someone condolences.
I wish we could but I don’t think they would learn.
People, it turned out, had a lot of stories to tell. However, the original remark was not done yet. On Twitter, people decided to call out the company that had done this. Many people joined in. And, while I’d like to believe it would make a difference. The only thing that could happen is that the manager apologises and regrets the decision made by their subordinates. But we all know that it is all done for optics and nothing else.
It is unacceptable and yet we accept this behaviour nonetheless.
You know you are bad when a bank seems more sympathetic.
I can only hope that this company suffers a financial loss.
Maybe then, they might finally learn that their actions have consequences.
Most companies do act like this to be fair.
I don’t think they can feel shame.
They are clearly too busy counting all the money they make.
Do they care about all of this? I think not.
I cannot even comprehend the level of stupidity.
I have no idea how this could end at this point.
They really should keep better documents.
Now that woman was ingenious.
This is why we need to digitise information.
Unions are sometimes the only solution.
We do not feel as much as we did in the past.
The horrors of this world have numbed us to pain and grief.
It is really sad that we have to think about it like this.
This is how you do it.
Stories like these do choke me up.
As it turns out, it is not so hard to be a decent human being.
And yet they are always fine.
Your best bet is to have no expectations at all.
