Mother-to-Be Frustrated With SIL’s Baby Shower Present And Wants To Exchange It For Expensive Version

Having a baby can be a rollercoaster of emotions, especially for a first-time parent. Before the baby is born, mothers usually sit down and make a list of the items they will need for the first year of their kid’s life. If it is their first child, it is likely that the mothers will also create a gift registry at your local baby store with this list.

In today’s Reddit AITA story, a woman is preparing for the arrival of her first baby and had created a list of items she intended to purchase, including a playpen. She sent the link for the playpen she wanted to her in-laws when they asked her if there were any missing items for the baby that they could purchase for her.

The playpen the OP had wanted and sent the link of, was a specific color she desired, was full of cool features, and included ample storage space. However, the in-laws purchased a different playpen with a color she didn’t like, less storage space, and no exterior pockets which was also much cheaper than the original. OP then says she felt awkward with these differences and didn’t know how to respond, so she sought advice from the AITA community. Keep on reading for the full story:

When a baby arrives, the parents-to-be tend to be particular about the many items they purchase for their child, such as onesies, monitors, swings, slings, etc. Everything needs to be on the list, and when the baby shower arrives, they feel they have done very well to prepare. However, when OP shared her request, the AITA community declared her the A-Hole for sounding entitled and ungrateful. Read what some of the users said down below:

#7) That’s true. No need to make your SIL embarrassed, just work with what you’ve got.

#8) This one’s a little loaded, but not far from the truth.

#9) Yeah, it would make your SIL doubt anything she ever gives you after that (if she gives you anything).

#10) I’m a 100 percent with this one. It’s first time mom jitters, she wants everything to be ideal but there’s no reason to be rude.
