Person Refuses To Pay Kids Who Shoveled Away All The Snow From Their Driveway

3 min 1

The neighborhood drama shall never cease to exist.

The whole neighborhood politics is basically beyond me. Everyone has a list of criteria established for a good neighbor. And all those lists differ from one another. A neighbor doing something that you find really nice and good does not necessarily mean that the others will find it good too. As a neighbor, yes it is totally fair if you want to do good for the others, in good faith, and doesn’t charge them for it, while the others believe it is fair they should be rewarded for the act of kindness that they do. Both sides of the stories have weight and are fair. If a kid helps you move in your furniture, why not tip him off a tenner?

Well, in this Redditors’ story, they tell how 4 kids from within the neighborhood decided to shovel their driveway which was blocked with snow, and then demanded $15 each for it, so that makes it $60 and they did it without any requests or asks. The Redditor totally refused and was then met by the mother of the kids. They took the matter to Reddit and asked whether they were an AH for not paying the kids for shoveling the snow off of their driveway.

1. Oh my god that snowpocalypse must’ve been a disaster. 14 inches of snow is no joke.

But I am very intrigued by that title.

3. Well that is weird. I would ask someone before providing services especially if I am expected to be paid, you cannot just assume and go ahead with it.

4. The kid actually pulled up his Mom’s Venmo to get the money for an act they were never asked to do.

7. All very good acts of kindnesses and a great inspiration for future generation, but the lady did not ask them to do it, so they did it willingly and hence, she is not entitled to pay them.

I actually cannot believe how someone could call you heartless and mean for absolutely no reason. The kids shoveled that driveway on their own, with no requests made by the neighbor whatsoever. The neighbor had plans to shovel it themselves. So why on Earth would she pay for services she never asked for. You were NTA and I don’t care what the neighborhood says, they are dumb.

The Reddit community roared in favor of OP and mutually voted that they were NTA and she needs to move out of that neighborhood as soon as possible.
