In real life, Rory McCann characterizes himself as “goofy” and “a little bit foolish.” He was such a diva on the Game of Thrones set that Maisie Williams had to manage him. McCann has worked as a bouncer, logger, musician, and tree surgeon.
Because he is so likable and quick on his feet intellectually, McCann gives the hate-filled Hound in both film and television plays a distinct, sympathetic quality. He also played up that funny side when he was Michael Armstrong in Hot Fuzz. When he wants to avoid being harassed in public, he takes on the Hound persona.
