Son Refused To Tell New Foster Parents About The Big Sum Of Money His Late Foster Mom Left Him

Hid money foster mom

Foster care is a system that is supposed to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children who cannot live with their biological parents. However, not all foster parents are kind and loving, and some foster children face abuse, neglect, and exploitation. One such foster child is a 15-year-old boy who has been in foster care since he was born and has never known a real family. He had only one foster mom who cared for him and treated him like her own son, but she d*ed of cancer. Before she passed away, she gave him some money that she had saved for him and told him to use it wisely and for his future. He kept the money hidden from everyone, hoping to use it for his education or something else that would make his foster mom proud.

However, things took a turn for the worse when he was placed with a new foster family who turned out to be greedy and selfish. His new foster mom needed surgery that his foster parents could not afford, and they started to pressure OP to give them his money.

OP was torn between his loyalty to his late foster mom and his fear of losing his new home. He decided to keep his money secret, but he felt guilty and conflicted about his choice. This resulted in the matter being taken to the courts of the subreddit “Am I The A$$hole?” by OP to know if hiding his money from his new foster parents was the right thing to do or not.

3. OP’s biological mom was a great mother to him till the two spent time together. She even wrote him a letter appreciating his existence and wished he would find her one day.

4. That is a lot of people OP has been handed over to.

5. Most families would give OP up as soon as they would receive their first state paycheck but some would hold onto him…like his last foster mom.

6. OP’s last foster mom was perfect according to him. Unfortunately, the woman who had planned to keep OP forever passed away due to cancer.

7. After her passing OP found out his foster mom had written his name in her will which resulted in him receiving $50,000 which he would be able to use when he turns 18 and $8,000 cash that he could use now.

8. The new foster parents that OP got sent weren’t great people at all.

9. They introduced OP to the house and let him be, completely ignoring his existence.

10. Upon finding out about OP being rich, though, their behavior suddenly switched. The mother thought she could have him pay for the surgery she needed.

Honestly, that is such a downgrade. Poor guy already going through so much and now he is with people who suddenly started caring about him after finding out he has money. So selfish. OP shouldn’t give them a single dollar. They took him up for those paychecks and nothing else.

11. She doesn’t talk with him but indirectly she has shown signs that she wants that money.

12. What is making OP feel guilty is that he knows he can afford the surgery.

13. But he knows he won’t stay with those people forever so why spend so much money on those people.

Here’s what the internet had to say about this:
