Music Teacher Regrets Getting Mad At Deaf Student

Nobody likes being ignored.

When your hearing is impaired, the world can be a difficult place if you’re surrounded by physically healthy people. Not everyone understands, but thankfully, the world has evolved and people have started to learn to co-operate and help others that aren’t as blessed as them. Technology has advanced and there are solutions to a lot of problems that seemed hopeless a few years ago. People with a hearing impairment can now take regular classes in schools with the help of hearing aids and cochlear implants. However, these things have their own complications and maintenance too, which can hinder work for their users.

This year 7 student is deaf and needs cochlear implants that need their batteries replaced after 2 days. He has enrolled himself in music class and the teacher wasn’t very co-operative with him. However, the teacher faced the consequences of her actions in the end. Read the whole story below:

So the boy started by introducing himself and explaining how he manages his hearing impairment.

He explained how most of his teachers were very supportive except for his music teacher.

His CI’s battery dies and he asks his teacher twice if he could go get his batteries changed, but the teacher just ignored him.

They have an assignment which the boy obviously can’t work on without his CI.

So, he doesn’t finish his assignment and the teacher starts getting mad at him for not hearing her.

He gets in a lot of trouble for it.

But when they go to the principal’s office, the tables turned very quickly.

In the end, the teacher is left embarrassed and the boy leaves the office happily.

We really should be more helpful and kind towards people with disabilities because the world is difficult enough for them already. Showing basic human decency doesn’t take a lot, it just shows you’re a good human being.
