Therapist Shares Son's Private Information With His Stepdad, Biological Father Files A Report Against The Therapist

Therapists are not allowed to share their client’s private information with anyone that the client shared with them during the therapy until the client is in danger.

Therapists are someone we can trust and share everything with them. They never break our trust. In fact, they help us get out of anxiety, depression and traumas. A man took his teenage son to therapy because he was in trauma after his dog’s death and was unable to speak. It was two after weeks after which OP learned that the therapist has shared his son’s private information with his stepdad which is ethically wrong. OP was floored. He decided to report the therapist and he did. Scroll down for the complete story.

1. OP’s son lost his dog which left him in trauma and he is unable to speak. He has been in therapy for 2 weeks.

If you are a therapist and reading this, never break your client’s trust by leaking their information. It is unethical in the first place. Also, the client would stop trusting you and anyone else. You have no idea how much psychological damage you are doing to someone. This therapist violated the laws and shared private information with the stepdad of his client. If he really thinks that the kid was in danger, he could have reached out to OP or the kid’s mother but he did not.

7. The therapist violated the law. Also, this person is ready to help OP with filing a complaint.

This so-called therapist does not deserve to be called a therapist because he violated someone’s privacy. Now this poor kid will always have trust issues. OP should not withdraw the case and should fight for his son. We have no idea how many more clients would have been traumatized at the hands of this therapist.
